I think the iMac Pro has a 1TB SSD, which I assume is a PCIe NVME because the write speeds reach 3GB. We've had issues with some X-series platforms not giving full performance on the balanced power mode, and switching to high performance can sometimes give a pretty big boost to performance. A lot of the benchmark doesn't work on older versions. FYI, this appears to also be resolved in the 14.2.0 release that Adobe pushed out today. Everything works up until I run the test, and then I get this trifecta error message window with the following messages "Error #3 - Could not find system info, Error # 3 - Could not find GPU info, Error # 3 - Could not find OS info", it then gives me the error message "Error: Could not parse system information. Usually, that is just an issue with the GPU driver not being up to date, so you might want to update that and run it again. I have no idea how their BIOS works, but you could work with their support to remove the overclock and see if performance improves. Have you tried Version 0.86 BETA that went up yesterday evening? So I am assuming that AE is using the integrated graphics on the CPU, and I have an expensive GPU paperweight in my machine not doing anything. When I make a new timeline with them, they play via software only, and don't play smoothly. I doubt that will get you more than a few percent, however, so it is more likely there is something else holding back your system. Due to this, the Overall Score will not be consistent with previous versions. :D jk. I haven't heard of anyone having an issue like that and that also isn't something we have encountered ourselves when running the benchmark on the Macs we have. It may not be correctly linking to the C4D project. In addition, with the amount of hardware that is currently available, it is impossible for us to test everything on our own, so we want to provide tools for other hardware reviewers to perform real world benchmarking in professional applications like After Effects. My guess is just that the script isn't finding that one setting since I actually have to do a file text search to get it and there is probably some weirdness going on. Added a "Progress" text layer on each test comp that updates automatically so you can visually see how far along the benchmark is. And disk caches were empty. That score is pretty much what I would expect - maybe a hair low but that could just be due to background applications/tasks that are running. Fixed now. As a part of this, we publish an ongoing series of hardware articles for Premiere Pro - as well as numerous other software packages - in order to discover what hardware configurations are optimal for these specific applications. That is (unfortunately) pretty normal. I know it's much more important for real world tests to be fast, but It still makes me wonder what's going on. What is also strange is that this is not the first codec that is tested, so the benchmark was able to successfully make copies of the media and re-link them at least once already. all have different scores so they can't be compared against each other. Seems like I actually upgraded this time. I thought that score for C4D was really slow. That should have the fix for that issue. Anything less results in the same issue mentioned in the previous bullet point with artificially high scores.
